Spring break and the fall of Atlantis
3/07/2005
Spring break started Saturday and I've been laying around at home since then so there isn't a lot to report here.
I've received my new XBox power cable. They were recalled because there was a small chance that it could cause some fires or electrical damage. The new plug has a giant plug at the end which even has a reset button on it. To me it seems like they went a little overboard -- or the problem is in the Xbox not the cord.
I wrote a program to capture webcam images from Michigan Tech's webcams because I wanted to see when they took down the Atlantis snow statue. Today, they finally took it down with some construction equipment. Thankfully, my program was running smoothly and caught all the action. I made an animated GIF out of the pictures so you can see it all happen.
Click here to view the image. I suggest doing the following in order to make it run the smoothest; right click > save the image and then open it in Internet Explorer/Mozilla or any other browser to view it. If you just use the Windows picture preview thing it doesn't show the whole animation. If you just click the link above then it will be choppy the first few times through the animation but once it's loaded it will speed up.
I thought it was pretty cool how they took it down that way. Seemed to happen fairly quickly too.

However, laying around and doing nothing is also an awesome thing. I hear yah.
Adios and I hope the rest of your week is off continues to be good.
To think that a window could be so entertaining.
