Nothing has really happened since the last post. I went home for the weekend but didn't do that much while I was there. I got some new long pants but that's about it. On our way back up we saw a lot of snow. We have some snow here but not directly on campus. There is a bunch on the ski hill and some up near the football field.

I have a test in CS class this Thursday. It shouldn't be too hard but I'll be studying anyway. Every other class has just been normal.

I really don't know what else to say, not too much going on.

In the past few weeks I have really noticed how TJ gets a billion times more IMs than I do, yet I have a lot more people on my lists than he does. What's up with that? No one normally messages me unless they want me to do something or if they need help. I don't even know why I sign on messenger services.

I can't remember if I've posted about next semseter's schedule or not. If I have, too bad I'm posting about it again. I have it setup so that I just have to enter the course numbers at midnight the day I can register and then I'm done. Since I have so much free time now I've decided to take the full load of 18 credits next semester. The classes include three CS classes, statistics, physics, and the required english class (which is 6 hours every week!). It sounds like it is going to be a lot but I'm sure I can handle it. There are so many people that I see and wonder how in the world they are even in college.

I seem to have trouble remembering what I type is previous posts. Did I talk about the last debates or not? Who cares. The last debate sucked because the same questions and answers were repeated. I don't want to hear their scripted acts. I still haven't decided who to vote for and still have no idea where either of the two stand on pretty much every issue. Maybe I should donate my vote to some crap guy who has no chance of winning.

Halo 2 (in French) was leaked on the Internet if you didn't know yet (if you didn't know, where have you been!?!). I've been hearing that a room in a different residence hall has it and has been playing for a while and loves it. The leaking of the game makes me want it even more. Sure it is less than a month away, but it has been a very long wait.

That is all for now I guess.

So I got my last program back in computer science. I did as well as I thought I would, which keeps me above 100 in the class. I'm glad that class isn't as challenging for me as it is to some others in the class. There has been at least two or three (that I know of) that have dropped out. I don't know if they dropped out to a lower version of the class or if they just decided not to be CS majors anymore. One of them was pretty annoying though, so I'm glad he left.

Today I have three classes but nothing important going on in any of them. Afterwards I'm probably going to the ACM club meeting and I'll probably join it. I'm guessing that we're going to have math tests in each of my math classes in three weeks. Next week I'm guessing he'll tell us that there will be a test soon. In CS class we have one next week Wed. or Thurs., which isn't a problem.

Tomorrow we can see Anchorman in a lecture room as a hall social. I'm planning on going to that, I've never seen the movie.
I forgot to post my 2nd test!
10/12/2004
I was dumb and forgot to post the result of my second test.

This one was much better, 99%. The cutoff for an A was down at 85 so I think I did pretty well. It looks like I need to concentrate more on differential equations instead of linear algebra.

Today is an easy day. English in the morning, which is getting worse and worse every class, and computer science in the afternoon. I'll probably end up working on studying math notes or something tonight.

My computer science program was finished this morning. I'd post it but I'm not sure if it's "okay" according to the rules of the class. So just in case they ever find it, I'm not going to post it. I really like how it turned out though.

Not much else is going on.
Test 1/2 = Okay
10/11/2004
I ended up getting a 61% on the differential equations test. I would be in a bad mood with that score alone but the average grade was 59% and the curve put me at a B for the test. An A was 65%!

I get the linear algebra test back later today.
No Title
10/09/2004
It's hard to come up with titles all the time but if I leave it blank it will look like crap. Oh well.

Both math tests will be given back Monday. I've heard several other people from diffential equations compain about some problems that I had problems on too. I'm hoping that this means everyone else did just as bad as I did. Rest of the classes are going okay still.

I've had to watch all the political debates for english class at school and I think they are pretty interesting. I used to say that my views on issues seemed more republican but after finishing the history classes in high school I realized that I'm stuck between both parties. Both parties have major things I don't like about them. The same goes for the people running for president. I honestly don't care for either of them. I was hoping the debates would sort of shine light on one of them and give me an idea of who to vote for, but they haven't done anything to help.

I think we are planning on seeing a movie tonight and I'll probably end up working more on my computer science program. It's almost done with the main requirements but there is a chance for a lot of extra credit so I'm going to be doing that too.
Holy Crap
10/06/2004
That was the hardest test I have ever taken.

The professor I have for differential equations is the same one I have for linear algebra. After Monday's linear algebra test I felt really encouraged because it was pretty easy and pretty much had exactly what he said it would have in it.

This test was totally different. It had the general stuff he said it would have in it, but much, much harder versions of what he showed in class. There were three questions on the test and each had multiple parts except #3. I answered about half of #1, all of #2, and only half answered #3. I REALLY hope everyone else in the class did as horrible as I did. I know the professor curves stuff by large amounts sometimes so we'll see what happens.

I talked to three people on the way out of the test and two of them said they had problems, mostly with the stuff I had problems on. One person said it was way too easy though. I don't think he comes to class everyday, so I don't know if I believe him or not.

Anyway, wish me luck with it, I want a good grade.
Quick Update
I'll post a quick update about the last post then I need to get back to studying for my math test in two hours!

I talked to the teacher after class about the zero/grader and he took a look at the scene that I made and compared it to the demo. He said they were way different and I had a very good point. He gave me all 100 points back.
Bad/Good Day
10/04/2004
Every day is getting colder and colder here. The wind makes it even worse. A lot of people weren't expecting it yet and didn't even have coats.

Anyway, I got my computer science test and program back today. My test grade was 92/100, best in class (yay!), and he took out the last problem so my grade is now 92/84. My program had mixed messages on it when I got it back. The points were all filled out and I didn't miss one. The grader, who is a student, apprently thinks that my program looked too similar to the class demo program. One of the requirements of the program states that the program cannot resemble the demo too closely. When I turned it in I thought mine looked very different. If I got the grader's grade then I would receive a 0 on the assignment. The grad student teacher put at the bottom of the paper that he would give me a 90/100. I think this is complete bull. I earned 100 points and I deserve all of them. After being pissed off the rest of the day I finally e-mailed him telling him I didn't intend to make it resemble the demo, etc, etc. He told me to talk to him during his office hours tomorrow, so I'm planning on getting all my points back then.

What is so stupid about this is there is no way I could cheat by looking at the demo. The demo is only a picture and includes no code at all. Everything I created was from my own mind. The assignment was to create a scene, or picture, using only rectangles and ovals. There is only so many things that you can do with just those two shapes.

Anyway, tomorrow hopefully I will get my points back.

Right after this happened I had a linear algebra test. So I was really pissed off and went into a test. I think I did well but I don't really know because I wasn't really paying attention.
Weekend
10/01/2004
I don't remember what I put in the past few posts so sorry if I repeat myself. It's finally the weekend (sort of) and my math tests are getting closer. I'm pretty nervous about them but I've been studying a whole lot and I think I know pretty much everything on the tests. There's a few things that are tricky but I'm working on them. I STLL haven't gotten back my program in computer science or the test we took last week. The teacher said the person who is grading it said they would be done Wednesday morning and then hasn't said anything since. Hopefully the grades will show up this weekend on the grade program so I can see what I got before the next program is due.

This weekend is parents weekend here at MTU. My family was going to come up but it turned out to be the same weekend has homecoming for my brother. My dad decided to come up and my mom and brother are staying in Green Bay. I need to study more math this weekend so hopefully I have time with my dad here.

Oh, and if you've been reading my comments you've probably noticed that there was a guy in Houghton who cut a 92 year old man's throat in the Wal-Mart parking lot. They found the guy and he's in jail or something. Pretty strange events for such a small town. The 92 year old guy lived too. I can't believe that, 92 is really old and he actualy walked to get help after the guy slit his throat.
