New layout
11/28/2004
I actually did something productive this break. When I started this blog I said I would make a new layout and I didn't do a thing about it until today (err, yesterday I guess).
I've changed one of my websites, Void Online, to be more of a personal site. I'll post what I want to on it. Right now I plan to work on some programs that would be useful for me (if I can actually complete them) and then put them up for download on my site. I'll probably end up putting other stuff up too, we'll see.
Feel free to browse around and look at the non-existent pages if you want. Information on the other pages should be up either Sunday or Monday, who knows.
Oh, and if something doesn't look right on your browser send me an e-mail so I can try and fix it. I had tons of trouble trying to get Internet Explorer to work right with the site. I guess it doesn't like fixed sizes for tables.
Edit: Also, Firefox likes to make the top post's table larger than the others. I have no idea why, I'll try and fix it later.

It has begun
11/17/2004
Today is very gloomy. It's gray in the sky and is misty - and has been pretty much the whole day so far. Is this the start of a long stretch or no sun? I don't really care if it is, we get to go home this Friday!
For some reason MTU gives a longer Thanksgiving break than most other Universities. Probably because most students are from lower Michigan and it takes forever to get there. Anyway, we are leaving Friday after my last class (at 5). They didn't cancel it yet, I really hope he does though. So if you are around and want to do something, give me a call.
I finally got into the statistics class I wanted for next semester. I've been bugging the horrible math department for two weeks and they kept ignoring me. Well when registration opened back up someone dropped it and I took their spot. Now looking at my schedule, it seems like a ton to do on Mon., Wed., Fri. Oh well, maybe it will give me more of a challenge. I find myself with loads of free time right now.
I got one of the math tests back so far and I did pretty well. The professor posted the high total score (which is both test scores combined) on the board along with the mean and low. The high was an insane 199/200, but the funny part was the 22/200 low. How could you be that horrible? You could guess and score better than that. I hope that person stays in the class because then he/she will bring the curve lower.
Not too much else to post about. My other test comes back later today and I've got a computer science exam tomorrow. I love that class because there is so much extra credit you can get on the programs that anything you do wrong on the test can be totally offset.

Halo and other stuff
11/14/2004
Halo 2 came out on November 9th, 2004 if you've been living under a rock. Gamestop was going to ship my copy up to me, but I was worried I wouldn't get it on the 9th, and I really wanted to play it. I ended up getting a ride to Wal-Mart at midnight. We got there around 11:15 PM and there was a line of about 20 or so people already. Thankfully, I called before and they said they had 35-40 copies so I was pretty sure I'd get one. I got the Gamestop package a few days later, so I'm glad I went to Wal-Mart. Now I have to find someone to sell my other copy to or keep two - one home and one here.
So how is the game? It's probably the best Xbox game out right now. Graphically, it is amazing what they were able to pull off on the Xbox, seeing how it has fairly primitive hardware compared to newer computers. The game itself is very good. The story tells two different things at the same time, which is very cool. I won't give anything away but I would have never expected the story to take the turn it did.
People have been complaining about the ending. It just leaves you hanging, that's it. It's not that it is a bad ending, it just leaves the door wide open for numerous Halo titles. I admit, it does end just as the story starts to get more action, but it does at least rap up the story a little bit.
Xbox Live play is really, really cool. You can pick what type of game you want to play and then it matches your skill level and party size with others and then throws you in a random game from the pre-established playlist of game types. Oh, and parties are like mini-lan parties. It allows you and other people to go into games together all the time. Anyway, a TON of people have been complaining that they want to pick the game they play online. They can right now but only if they have a party, and it isn't ranked. It is sometimes hard to get a party going though. Bungie said they are messing around with ideas and will probably offer a new option which will allow you to pick your game more easily. I don't mind the random play because it diversifies everything. Keeps it fun.
Bungie.net now lists stats for each player. And by stats I mean a gigantic pile of them. You can check out all my stats by clicking here. You can look up each and every game and see how many kills everyone got as well as pretty much any other stat you can think of. You can even see who killed who on the map and WHERE they killed them.
So what else is new? Not all that much. I had two tests in both math classes this past Friday. I think I did pretty well on both so that is good.
We get to go home for Thanksgiving break pretty soon, on this upcoming Friday to be exact. It should be nice to see my family again for a while.
Other than that, I don't know what else to write in here.

I'm Lazy
11/02/2004
I know, I know, I never update this blog. Not much has really happened since the last post. I finally voted via absentee ballot eventhough I really hadn't made any decision. Few new grades in classes, not that big of a deal.
I've been trying to get Linux to work right on my desktop. It always has a problem detecting my external hard drive. I'd love to get it to work because the version I have right now, Ubuntu, is pretty neat looking.
Today is election day. I'll probably watch the news during portions of the day, it'll be interesting to see who is coming out on top as the day goes on.
I registered for classes at midnight on Monday (so early Monday morning). Three of the classes I wanted were closed by that time. I've given up trying to get into Physics but I still want to get into statistics and I already got into the closed computer science class I wanted. All I did was ask and she put me in. Anyway, here's the classes I am taking so far:
World Cultures (required: should be a horrible class)
Data Structures
Discrete Structures
Object Oriented Programming
Psychology
Physics Lab (only 1 credit, you can take it by itself)
Bowling (need to get PE stuff out of the way)
I want to add statistics but I'm not sure if they'll let me in or not.
