Moving..... again
8/26/2007
Tomorrow my parents will be arriving and we're going to load up the car to move my stuff back to Green Bay. On Friday I'll be headed back up to MTU for my final year. I really don't feel like leaving Rochester right now though. It's been a pretty fun summer. Hopefully the year will go by quickly at school.

The webcam will be offline for a little while since I'll be moving. If possible, I plan to aim the webcam out my window in my Hancock apartment. This means that it should be looking at downtown Hancock so it will be a little more interesting than the boring no-activity yard which it was previously pointed at.

My XBox 360 received a visit from the fabled "red ring of death" a few weeks ago. For those of you who are not familiar with this, it means that my XBox no longer works and has to be sent in for repairs. Earlier this month it happened to me and then it went away but a few weeks ago it came back with a vengeance and forced me to request a repair on Xbox.com. It looks like they will be sending me a refurbished 360. I'm hoping they send it out tomorrow so that there is a chance I can get the 360 before Friday when I leave since it is shipping to Green Bay. I really want to play Bioshock, which has been receiving all kinds of good press.

Yeah...
7/29/2007
I know, I haven't updated in forever. To be honest, the only time I think about it is when I'm at work. I've been keeping fairly busy with miscellaneous activities. I've been biking quite a bit and watching a bunch of movies. Netflix is really nice to have but sometimes I end up renting movies that are just terrible. I'm glad it's a flat fee and not based on how many I rent per month.

In the past month or so I've gone to two Twins games (vs. the Tigers) with Sarah, Justin, and some other friends from Rochester. I also went to a few Rochester Honkers games with work and again with Justin and some others from Rochester. It's been a pretty busy month actually. While I'm on the subject of baseball, the Cubs are only a game or so behind the Brewers for 1st place in the division now. I'd guess they will take it over at some point this week.

School starts again in early September so I'll be finishing up at work in Rochester the last week of August and then my parents will come help me move my stuff back to Green Bay. The place I'm renting in Hancock is supposed to be somewhat furnished, so I won't have to worry about moving too much stuff this time.

The Office Season 3 comes out on DVD the first day of classes. Thankfully I don't have any class Tuesday or Thursday this semester so I'll be able to head over to Wal-Mart and pick it up. I'm sure I'll be watching it quite a bit. The Office is probably one of the only TV shows I'd ever buy on DVD. I think a TV show needs a certain charm in order for people to be able to watch it over and over and The Office definitely has it.

Creepy
1/17/2007
So a lot of things have happened since the last time I posted. I finished my co-op in Rochester, moved everything from Rochester to Green Bay to Hancock, and started school again after a semester off. It's weird being back, I think I'm happy about it although nothing has really changed except that I have homework now.

It's too early to tell if I'll like any of my classes, but some of them seem interesting at least. I have huge gaps in time between classes every day though, so I guess I'll be hanging out in the labs a lot since it's not really worth it to go home for an hour. I'll probably just use that time to do homework.

The house Justin and I rented in Hancock is a mixture between creepy old house and a nice cozy place. I have no idea when it was built but it was obviously a long time ago. The light switches stick out of the wall and some of them are even turn switches. You might think that they are dimmers for the lights, but they aren't. You turn the dial and it eventually clicks and turns the light on/off. Here's a picture of a "modern" switch (on the left) and one of the old dial kind.

Old light switch

Unfortunately, the switch stopped working a few days ago and it's in the worst place possible... the stairway. We're having it looked at soon I think. Hopefully it gets fixed.

The basement is also creepy. To get into it you must go into the pantry and then open a trap door which reveals some very steep steps down to a spooky, dark basement.

There is also a large oil tank and an ancient furnace which sports a paint job which hints that it is from the 50s.

The most spooky thing about the whole place is the old cane that my dad found behind a door. We like to joke that the place is haunted, probably from some dead miner. I think he may have been warning us when he broke the light switch earlier this week.
