Happy New Year 2009

Happy New Year!!
Christine and I went to Green Bay for a short vacation this past week. We decided to go out for a nice dinner on New Year's Eve at a place called Rivers Bend in Green Bay. We had made reservations several days ahead of time but we still had to wait over an hour to get seated!! They were allowing walk in seating too, so I think that's why they were so backed up. It didn't really bother us much since we didn't have anything else planned for the night and got the opportunity to visit with each other. While we waited we also got to talk to a few nice older women. One of them even gave us a bottle of champagne that they didn't really want. The restaurant offered to buy us drinks because of our long wait but because the dinner we ordered already came with champagne we just decided to get free soda. They probably laughed at that.
I put up some pictures from the dinner and a few from a dinner that we had at my parent's house. It was a fun vacation. You can check out the pictures by clicking here.

On our way back to Rochester on Saturday we ran into some bad weather about 10 miles into Minnesota. There was freezing rain predicted for the area and we happened to hit the very start of it so most people were driving really poorly for the conditions. In about a 45 mile stretch in Minnesota we saw a total of 15 cars in the ditch, including two which were upside down. We also almost saw a tanker truck plow into the back of a sedan which was slowly passing someone in the left lane. Like I said, people were not realizing how slippery it was out. When we got to Christine's house we couldn't even walk up her driveway because we'd just slide back down it. On my way home (10 minute drive), I saw another 3 cars off the road. It was a pretty crazy afternoon.

A long overdue post

I think it's safe to say a lot has happened since I last posted on here. I have now been dating Christine for three months and I think I may have barely started talking to her last time I actually wrote on my website. I say this all the time, but I will attempt to post more frequently.
If it is any consolation, I have added a bunch of pictures to the pictures section of the website. Here is a summary of what I added:
Winter Carnival 2008: LONG overdue... I know. Until recently I had to manually resize all my pictures to post them on here and I really didn't want to go through all of these pictures to resize them. I wrote a little piece of software to fix that problem so the pictures are up now.
Geocaching with Christine (10/4/08): I took Christine geocaching in Rochester. We took a few pictures and released a travel bug in honor of her first geocaching experience. You can track it here.
Golden Gophers vs. Hawkeyes (11/22/08): We got tickets to the Minnesota Golden Gophers last game in the Metrodome. The final score was 55-0, Minnesota lost.
Packers vs. Panthers (11/30/08): Christine, Justin, Laura, Todd, Donnie, and I all went to the Packers vs. Panthers game. Christine and I drove over to Green Bay for the weekend. We tried tailgating (my first time) and had a TON of fun all weekend.

That's all I had for now.

The TV shows have started again. The Office is as funny as ever and Heroes is still pretty good. A new show called The Big Bang Theory is absolutely hilarious. It's on CBS right before Heroes, if you want to check it out. It's about a bunch of nerds living next to an attractive woman. It's really, really funny.
It's been raining almost every day for the past week or so. A week ago I did go up to Copper Harbor geocaching. It was pretty nice weather, although a little windy. I took some pictures if you want to check them out. There are some pretty cool caches around the area that have to do with mines. I'd like to check those out sometime soon.
It's also been really windy when it hasn't been rainy the past week. I did find the time to go biking once or twice though. I ended up breaking my bike pump and I only bought it this summer. That's what you get when you buy some cheap thing from Wal-Mart I guess.
Halo 3 is pretty good, but didn't live up to the enormous hype that surrounded it. The campaign is pretty short but still decent and multiplayer is really good like normal. I think Bioshock is a better game overall, but I'm sure most people won't agree with me.

New pictures
9/16/2007
As promised I've put up some new pictures. I never got around to posting pictures of the house I lived in last semester after coming back from my co-op. The house was pretty crappy and everything was old/broken. You can see the pictures here or in the pictures section. I also got around to taking pictures of my new place in downtown Hancock. You can see those pictures by clicking here or by going to the pictures section.
There isn't too much new going on with me. This is the smallest credit load I've ever taken so I really don't have much to do a lot of the time. I'm sure I'll get some CS projects pretty soon though, not that I want to do them or anything.
It was finally a reasonable temperature yesterday to go biking again, although still chilly. I finally found a place to ride long distance that isn't extremely hilly. It's really not a bike path but more of a shoulder on a not very busy road. Hopefully I'll get to do more of that before it gets too cold out.
Bioshock is a pretty awesome game. Now that my XBox 360 is back I finally am able to play it. I'm not entirely sure how far I am in the game (I'd guess about 3/4 of the way done) but it's been really fun. I think the game would be even better if I had my nice speakers here, but the apartment seems to have thin walls so I decided to keep them at home until I graduate.
